Free telc A1 Mock Exam – Sprechen

The A1 Sprechen section (Start Deutsch 1) is a group exam in three parts and takes about 15 minutes. In Teil 1 you introduce yourself using keywords such as name, age, country, languages and hobby, and you may be asked to spell a word or say a number. In Teil 2 each candidate draws word cards on one theme, such as shopping, and uses them to ask a question, which another candidate answers. In Teil 3 you draw picture cards and use them to make a request, such as asking for a coffee, and react to the requests of the others.

Below are the three tasks as they appear in the exam, with the real card layout. The best preparation at A1 is to say the answers out loud: a short, correct question with the word from the card scores better than a long one with mistakes.
