This free telc A2 Modelltest lets you practise the telc Deutsch A2 exam online, in the exam format. A2 is the step after A1: the texts are longer, one listening part asks you to write the answer rather than tick it, and the oral exam is taken in pairs.
All four sections are ready below: Lesen and Hören with one task for each part (audio included), the Schreiben form, and the writing and speaking tasks as they appear in the exam. You see the right answers as soon as you check. What's in the telc A2 exam?
- Lesen3 parts, 15 tasks: finding information in an overview such as a store directory (a/b/c), a short newspaper report (richtig/falsch) and matching five situations to eight adverts, with one situation that has no match. Shares a 50-minute block with Schreiben.
- Hören3 parts, 15 tasks, about 20 minutes: phone messages you complete a note for (heard twice), radio announcements with a/b/c answers (heard once) and a conversation in which you match five items to letters (heard twice).
- Schreiben2 parts: fill in a form with five pieces of information taken from short texts, then write a message of about 40 words covering three of four given points, with a greeting and a closing.
- SprechenA paired exam in 3 parts: introduce yourself with a keyword card, hold an everyday conversation using question cards, and agree on a plan with your partner using two different sheets.

This practice test is online rather than a PDF: you do the tasks here and see the answer straight after checking, with the audio built in. The official practice test in PDF form is available from telc.
The exam has 60 points, 15 for each of the four sections, and you pass with 36 (60 %) on the combined total. There is no minimum per section, so a stronger section can balance a weaker one.
The texts are longer, the reading section includes a short newspaper report and an advert matching task, in Hören Teil 1 you write short answers into phone notes instead of ticking, and the oral exam is taken in pairs rather than as a group.
Start with Hören Teil 1, the part most learners have not met before: you write a word, a number or a time. Then practise Lesen Teil 3, where one situation has no matching advert.
