Yes, all 4 centers listed let you book the exam on its own. Benedict states that its fees apply to internal and external candidates alike, and Klubschule Migros states that a course is not required before the exam.
Klubschule Migros has published the most B1 dates (six between December 2026 and December 2027). Aida and Benedict test a few times a year. ILS St. Gallen had only one B1 date published when we checked (November 28, 2026).
Deadlines differ by center: about 3 weeks before the exam at Aida and Benedict, and about a month at ILS (regular registration) and Klubschule Migros. At ILS you can register late for CHF 30 extra until its published late deadline.
Bring a valid photo ID. The written exam (reading, listening, writing) takes about 150 minutes, followed by an oral exam of about 15 minutes. If you choose the digital exam at ILS, it takes place at the ILS exam center.
ILS states about 2-3 weeks for digital exams and 6-8 weeks for paper exams, and Klubschule Migros usually six to eight weeks. You pass if you score at least 60% in both the written and oral parts.
