German Citizenship for Filipinos: Keeping Philippine Citizenship
How Filipinos keep or re-acquire Philippine citizenship after becoming German: the oath under Republic Act 9225, the documents and the fee.
Can Filipinos have dual citizenship with Germany?
Yes, but it is not automatic. Germany has allowed dual citizenship since 27 June 2024. Under Philippine law, natural-born Filipinos who are naturalised abroad keep or re-acquire Philippine citizenship by taking an oath of allegiance under Republic Act 9225. The Philippine Embassy in Berlin states that dual citizenship is not automatic and that your Philippine passport cannot be used between your naturalisation and the oath. The fee is €50, plus €25 for each dependent child included.
